We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Research Assistant to support materials-focused research activities in a collaborative environment. In this role, you will contribute to experimental work, data collection, analysis, and documentation while helping advance ongoing projects related to materials characterization, processing, and performance. This position is well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, problem-solving, and working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and carrying out materials research experiments and laboratory tasks.
• Prepare samples, operate research equipment, and follow established testing procedures.
• Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Maintain clear records of methods, results, observations, and laboratory inventory.
• Support materials characterization activities using appropriate analytical techniques and tools.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and other team members to meet project goals.
• Help troubleshoot experimental issues and recommend improvements to procedures when appropriate.
• Prepare summaries, figures, reports, and presentation materials for internal and external use.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with laboratory protocols.
• Stay current on relevant literature, methods, and emerging developments in materials research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science, engineering, chemistry, physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with laboratory or research support in a scientific or technical setting preferred.
• Familiarity with materials testing, characterization methods, or experimental data analysis is an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
• Ability to follow protocols, document work thoroughly, and maintain accurate records.
• Basic proficiency with data analysis and common productivity software such as spreadsheets and document tools.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new techniques and tools.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to materials synthesis, processing, microscopy, spectroscopy, mechanical testing, or thermal analysis.
• Experience with research documentation, laboratory notebooks, or data management practices.
• Comfort working in academic, industrial, or applied research environments.
